This week
Storms hit, cleanup's on, and there's still plenty going on around town.
Updated April 29, 2026.
Storm recovery
April 27 storms tore through Jackson County.
A line of thunderstorms came across central Indiana on Sunday afternoon — tornadoes, hail, hard wind, and flooding. The Weather Service confirmed a tornado on the ground in Jackson County between Bobtown and Cortland, just northwest of town. A lot of folks have trees down and yards to clear. Lucky timing in one way: the storm hit during Make Seymour Shine week (Apr 13–17), so the city's extra curbside pickup was already running.
